Grumble grumble

Heee i'm excited abt starting work!!! I need a nice book, to write things down, so I won't forget things! So there I was, rummaging thru this box filled with stuffs (of high sentimental value) that end up there when I don't have a place for them... Found a notebook from Felix (this guy on exchange who ended up being my Comp Archi partner), and from what he said, the paper is made of elephant dung... I hope he was kidding me....

Took out many mails too... Do you know I love receiving letters & cards! Used to wait for the postman to come round my house, and if I don't see him, I'll still check out the letterbox.... When I see a mail addressed to me, I'll actually feel that the day is a better one, except if it's a bill. And I think in a time when everyone corresponds thru sms, emails and instant messaging, snailmail has somehow become even more precious to me... Luckily for me, there's still a handful of people who still sends mi letters (be it by choice or not) and birthday cards (can't emphasize how much I love them, and those who remembered me that time of the year)....

and ive juz realised singapore is so small, everyone noes everyone! it's so utterly boring!!! Don't you tink it's unfun when you get to know someone who is prob a fren of another fren? I'm not saying it's not a good thing, but too much of it is juz SICK! Bleargh!

Shopping!!!

Sooooooo happy wif my shopping for the last 2 days!!! I bot things i realli like, and i simply love the 2nd lip gloss i got! Just that there's still things I've left at the rack coz I guessed it's not dat rite to spend away my (oredi very miserable) salary way in advance... Shall KIV first and go back for these 'old frens' when i feel like indulging myself yeah?

ok enuff ramblings abt shopping.... for everyone's info, im starting work on the 1st (of aug), and the company's at alexandra technopark... it's juz opp SAJC, so i'll prob get to see dear MUTHU on my way u noe? and how abt Ms K? Hanging around my fave Ikea seems like a good choice too! esp when my ikea card provides me with 2 free drinks everyday.... im desperately trying to paint a better pic of working life after all the reminder from KIND frens abt how bad it can get....

One more reason to be happy! Was at xiaxue's blog when she shared with everyone this site on Dumbledore (if u do not noe, it's the old sweet wizard everyone loves fr Harry Potter), and why the site owner believes he's not dead.... I was quite devastated after finishing the book and stormed into baby bro's room and protesting abt the lousy ending.... BUT, dis kinda gave mi some hope, even if it's false....

Anyway, I declare the worst film of the year Mindhunter.

Yay! The company in Alexandra (my No.1 working location) has called mi up for a 2nd interview tml! Hooray!

Meantime, keeping my fingers crossed about the one in Tuas...

I got my first job offer!! FYI, it's the one i flunked totally, and since I can get an offer for that, it makes sense to wait for the other companies to (possibly) get back to me... HOR?

One of Japan's greatest exports

Tokeo Kosei Wind Orchestra was in town for WASBE and I went for the first TKWO concert of my entire 22+ years of life.... What can I say? Even though the seat wasn't one of the bests in the hall, I had a totally awesome time! Especially when we're sitting at the gallery, looking down at the band (it helped that the guy flautist was cute), the sound of the band was nevertheless, balanced and, great! Can tell you for sure that this is the concert I applauded the loudest and the most! Glad I forked out the money for the concert, coz I was able to take pix (secretly), get a good view, and most importantly, enjoy my fave band, LIVE! Another bonus was that they band played 3 encore pieces, and made my money really well spent....

I'm glad to announce my fish has got out of the cant-get-to-it phase and regaining the vitality (and neverending appetite) a fighting fish should possess. It's nearly time to name it (and putting up its pix)!

Since the whold world has been so interested abt my interviews, I guess it's onli rite of me to furnish you guys wif a lil' bit of details, in the post BELOW...

Heee my sis laid her hands on the latest Harry Potter and since she's not done wif the last one and baby bro's finished it today (said else he's got no time), IT SHALL BE MINE AND ALL MINE FOR THE REST OF THE TIME UNTIL IM DONE! *evil laughter* I'll definitely not mind not going out until I finish the book!!!

[ R&D (Software) Engineer @ Chai Chee ] - Mon
No, I wasnt late... Basically flunked it coz was utterly unprepared and worse still, there was a tech test which required me to convert C into assembly. Interviewer din seem too perturbed i came unprepared, for the first interview. Would take 2-3 wks b4 I noe anythg but I guess I'm pretty done wif dis haha

[ R&D Engineer (Software) @ Tuas ] - Thur
Ok late for this one in the west, ironically, and I took the cab. Anyway, there were interviews by 2 guys from 2 diff divisions. Senior Manager fr A was terribly late and I ended up chatting with the team leader from B like old frens for 1h+. Senior Manager den walked in and gave mi a lesson on his experience and ruled mi unsuitable for division A. Fine wif me too, since the position in B seem alot more like sth I wld wan, and the team leader was cute in a harmless way too =p Will take 2-3 wks for results to be out too... Realised only then that team leader from B din formally interview me, so I wonder on wat grounds he's going to consider me for the position... it'll be good if it's on 'gam'-ness heh

[ Analyst Programmer @ Raffles Place ] - Thur
Interviewed by this interesting woman doing corporate service outsourcing, and involved in mainly ad-hoc projs, and thus deadlines will b tite, many OTs and expect pimples since stress wld b overwhelming. The (core) jobscope seem challenging enuff, and since the company deals with corp svc, I guess there's alot to learn fr... juz dat, the pay is PATHETIC.... Notification for 2nd interview will come within a few working days if shortlisted.

[ Firmware Engineer @ Alexandra ] - Fri
Nice office, good location. Hee there's dis HR manager and senior FW engr who interviewed me. I guess I was totally relaxed and put myself offguard. The entire interview went quite smoothly and 'uneventful' (a bad thing in my opinion)... The only thing I guess added brownie points was the time when I was able to draw the flowchart correctly (verified by Rammy), but prob everyone else who went could do it too.... I would know the result by coming week if shortlisted!

I do find some part of the culture in Jap firms abit hard to digest tho... Something I realised from the interviews... They make their employees
- show up for work at 7.30am sharp, and are damn into punctuality (dis we all noe)
- conduct morning assembly everyday, of which includes singing of company anthem, listening to message from CEO (all the way fr Japan) and updating everyone of the absentees (of which I believe a good fraction are only late comers)
- wear ugly uniforms
- love doing OTs... imagine the dis Jap guy walking into the last 5 mins of my interview and the first question he asked was "OT, no OT? I have free taxi card!"

There's another one (interview) today but I guess im too lazy to go down for it... Not sth I really want (after finding out the company name).... Meantime, I'm poor and jobless as usual.

The prob must be me den... but i dunno wat i've done wrong... *frantic*... arggghhh i cant suffer another death of my pet... dun die pls pls pls... *POUTS*

I'm super jobless and poor. Shall try to stay away from money-spending activities... Unhealthy for my pocket.... QJ said his boss juz gave the job I applied (too late) for to a girl from Civil Eng.... Not very sure if between the 3 of us (QJ, his boss and mi), who's supposed to dui more? =p

I'm currently running the risk of turning into a narcissist, judging by the number of pix on my desk, and a 'almost-solo' one.... But according to Z-X, dis (loving urself) is a very normal thing to do. I guess I'm supposed to feel better about it.... alrite I'm SLIGHTLY narcissistic.
