Tempo up

Loving songs with such tempo.

Job Hunting

Been feeling super sleepy the last 2 days, probably coz of the showers that keep taking place, keeping the place cool enough to go into a doze whatever you're doing? It also made my "job hunting" extremely difficult coz I hadnt been able to stay in front of the PC for more than 15mins. Most of the time I'll be rushing off to get more water/coffee, or going for the loo (naturally of cos!).

And so I've started to actually be more serious in looking around. Previously, I was just browsing around and fiddling around with the idea of applying for a job. It was only till end of last week that I managed to bring myself to update my (English) resume. It kinda horrified me when I realized that I've forgotten a big bulk of my work done in the last job, when I've only been away for 3 months! So this says alot about bumming around and what it does to your mental ability. No more of it!!

So I've signed myself up with 2 online recruitment agencies, one of which is extremely active. Till now (from Mon), I have received 3 requests to view more details on my resume, and these are jobs that pretty much interest me at this point of time. But my biggest problem is that, I have not started to do a writeup of my resume, skills set and self intro, in Japanese. It's quite dumb of me to even imagine that I can get away without doing it. I knew it had to be done, but I was just plain lazy and convinced myself to let myself off the hook. Hahaha.. big mistake. So now I'm stuck in a situation where I have requests coming in but I dont have something to send back. I have 2 choices. To just be thick skinned and send in the English version, or to buck up and write up the Japanese version. I could also do nothing about it, if it's even an option.

The browsing around had also been pretty much informative. It seems that there is really a market for English and/or Mandarin speakers around. And if you're lucky, you might not even need to know much Japanese. It might apply to very technical jobs like engineering or IT support fields, but since I'm not going for them this time, bleargh. And I wonder how significant Uni grades are at this point in time. I know it probably doesnt matter much when you apply for a job back home, but this is Japan and I'm guessing paperwork still counts. If that's the case, I'm still pretty screwed hee. But looking at what's at hand now, I'm quite sure I will be able to settle for something I like that pays reasonably well. The Geek was going on "Why should you even bother how much/little it pays if this is the job you really want?". Well because I'm at this stage I don't want to be working without thinking about how much I'm earning, like the previous one. A company doesn't feel, so that contribution you make towards it better show up in the pay cheque. Very realistic huh, but I guess this is the age whereby I want/have to support myself in getting a reasonably comfortable life.

Will update about this job hunting thing soon, when I have the time =)

Been quite happy with myself lately haha... for designing some corners of the house and it looks pretty good now. The pix above are just what I did with this super cool online app that lets you design your place and turn it 3D... I get some pride when I see these small little things. The best part is that you can change the decor according to whatever you feel like or depending on the season, so the apartment is always somewhere that keeps us continuously interested in redesigning it.

Was told that since my bedroom has been invaded by the baby bro, and his room has been taken up by the confinement lady (oh yes, my sis just gave birth and I have a new nephew!!), I might have to sleep with my mom or bunk in with my other sis when I'm back. My sis was laughing at me, 有家归不的。 Maybe what I've always believed is home, is no longer home. =(

Oh ya! My birthday is coming. Oh dear, I dont even feel much about it, which means I'm seriously done. The Geek was pretty excited that it's our first time celebrating my bdae on the actual day, and was asking abt anything/anywhere I have in mind. Eh... I just want to get a job and settle down.

The Geek will be heading for HQ again today, for that meeting that we are all wondering why it's even happening now. Bleargh. Anyway it means that I can stay away from cooking (tmr as well!! hooray!) and should do something/go somewhere interesting since it's been quite awhile eversince I explored cafes alone. And there's still this whole pile of books I have to go return to the library!

Ok!! Started off great today, and I will end it off great!!

Moving...?

My family and i used to stay on landed property, in fact, for most part of my life. That means the view i got to enjoy was only at most from the 3rd floor.

I still remb the time when Dad decided we ll move into the penthouse on the 19th floor, i was overwhelmed with excitement and looked forward to moving in. The first morning i woke up in my bed, seeing nothing but the beautiful sky and fluffy clouds. I can still feel that happiness in me whenever i think about it.

After a few years there, u start to tk things for granted, that u get to enjoy such a beautiful sight everyday. Only until i got back to living on low floors, then did i remb what i used to have but didnt take time to appreciate it.
And this can probably be applied to anything in life... cherish what u have... it's something I'm trying to remind myself each day...

Spoilt Brat

One more time the boy whines about every single unfortunate (or not?) things that happened to him, I'm gonna do myself the favour of NOT meeting up with him when he arrives. Bleargh.

Selection

Was on my way to meet A & A for dinner ytd, when I saw a guy who looks very much like him. Everything about that guy, his height, his facial features, and even hairstyle. We were crossing the road from opposite sides, and I was pretty sure this person stared awhile at me. Or maybe because I had that startled look and was staring as well? Things like this happening always put me in a semi mental block for awhile....

Anyway, it was an enjoyable night with the guys, they were talking guys' talk as if I wasnt around. Nvm since I enjoyed most of that, being used hanging out with guys as buddies.

It got me thinking, that I should be meeting up with people whom I really enjoy their company with, and not those that I feel obliged to. Like the last one with the guy who was basically both blur and a 写真馬鹿 really put me off abit. I didnt enjoy it much, seriously. I really appreciate people letting me know when they drop by and we could meet up. The problem is, I dont want to waste energy/time/money meeting up with them if it's going to be just obligatory. The worst part is you won't know if this person (who used to be fun back in home) turns out weird as a tourist (who says it doesnt happen?) and the whole thing ends up in regret.

Too much comments huh it seems....

The weather has FINALLY, AT LONG LAST cooled down. Or decided to turn funny, I should say. Just yesterday, the temp hit a max of 37.6deg, with the heat continuing will late night. I couldnt take it and made my way to Roppongi Tsutaya, which is good coz they have a Starbucks and I could get some books on interior design. Anyway as I was saying, it was mostly rainy and cool today, with max only 28deg 26deg! A difference of nearly more than 10deg between 2 consecutive days! It'll be a rainy weekend, with Sunday temp at 25deg 24deg 22deg! Wooohooo! Luckily I have done all my laundry ytd =P Oh wait, after this, we're back to hot days. Now I sound like the weather report *old* lady.

I'm actually looking at going back home earlier! =) Happy coz I can meet all my lovely nieces again! I miss them to bits!!! And of cos la, my family and friends, whom I cannot leave out else i might get hammered.

I feel like karaoke-ing this song, like NOW!

sometimes i imagine myself pouring the icy cool mineral water over myself accidentally, on purpose.

猛暑

I cant do a single thing in this heat, besides letting my brain fry inside my head.

ポテト lah

Made some mashed potato for dinner today and totally loving it.
So much so that it calls for a blog post hahaha....

It's so simple that you don't need a recipe... but I realized now why my mashed potato always turn out un-mashy, without the milk!

やった!

Finally got the visa fr the Immigration Bureau today! Applied for the re-entry permit at the same time, so i dont have to head down to Shinagawa again. True enough it's just a straight train ride which takes only 40mins... but u would think the time and money could be spent elsewhere! And immigration officers arent exactly the friendliest peeps ard...

Today, i guess i can understand why already. Imagine having to face so many rowdy foreigners in a day, when half of them cant understand Japanese really well nor you understand their language. When i said rowdy, i kid u not. Just imagine an office with foreigners talking loudly to each other or on the phone, with screaming kids in toll. Since this is not really commonplace here, i can understand if they feel kinda stressed out (i did, while waiting there alone!). Working in immigrations also meant theres very little leeway for any mistakes.

Anyways.... look like i'll be hanging around awhile more and meanwhile, it means less valid reasons to bum ard!

TGIF

Let's get this over and done with, shall we?

Moving on

Finally got started to importing most of the contacts (I want to keep) onto the new
phone. Which means, I could msg people on Whatsapp as and when I like, which was what I did this morning. So excited to be catching up with everyone again! Argghhh I miss them tonnes!!

The last weekend was spent buying stuffs for and doing up the place. The Geek finally got his work desk, for which I felt quite guilty about. We took his original dream work desk over as the dining table first, but ended up liking it so much that we decided that he has to get something else for work instead. I was shopping all alone at LakeTown (the super duper huge mega mall which i hope never ever to step foot into for the next 6 mths), and got several items, mostly useless but cute, for the interior design. The Geek was convinced by me that he's gotta mk a trip down the next day, and we ended up carrying tonnes of barangs back haha....

Fell sick after that. No good. =( Reminded me that I do not have the chinese medicine that Mom will make whenever I feel like I was going to fall sick.

Met up with this ex NY girl, who is married to her Japanese hubby too. She tagged along for his biz trip and we finally got to meet up after knowing about each other thru FB... Quite a coincidence that we both went to NY, stay around the same area, worked at ATP and ended up in Japan for the same reason. I wonder how come we didnt know each other earlier haha... Anyway she turned out to be a very chirpy person with many ideas in her head. She was going on about starting a place to read story books for kids, and a cafe attached to it. Brilliant idea, and what happened to our Florist beside the Cafe? Anyway I guess is the right attitude to hold on to in a foreign land. Reminder to self to stay positive! This was an enjoyable meeting, with not just a Singaporean, but someone my age who came from similar environment and clicks! Too bad she stays so far away from Tokyo~~

Have been going out more often these days and seems like the spending spree is resurrecting, which means I've been spending quite alot haha... but at least I've been drawing resources fr my SG account, which means less burden on the Geek.... I have no problem with this, just that I wish to have the financial freedom I used to own. Must stop bumming around and look for something. It's gonna take time, so I'd better start earlier, yeah?

As Mr T wrote in his email to me, the Geek and I reminded him of the time when he and his wife were starting their new life. They had nothing but youth and courage, and we're definitely in a better position than them. W got the stuffs I sent her, and she was so excited and happy that she ended up chatting non stop that night haha... it was quite cute of her... Really thankful to many peeps for the encouraging words, and I started to think I'm quite a weakling if not for them.

Nothing much to offer today, since I havent been really taking much pix. Will play cheat and offer something from The Café Hopping Journal.

Eh, that reminds me... i want to have u here for my cafe adventures!!
