Just because that lazy bum decided to leave, I ended up being attacked for the wrong reasons coz it all happened in that single day my big boss knew about my request. If a person who isnt committed enough wants to leave, you should be happy abt it, and even happier that we haven't wasted much time on her. I dont wanna make someone stay just so that she can help to do some filing and leech upon the rest. Not capable, cannot commit. Tell me what I can do with her.
I wish he could just take it easy instead of ending up me bearing grudges against him and the entire organization. Arrgghhhhh these men are just so inapt at handling departures that they have to have their PMS and peeves huh??? 为什么不可以好聚好散,而要绑住我呢?
Never believed and will never believe people cannot do without another person. We won't die without each other, alright??!?!?!? Grrrr...

Hohoho!
Besides Xmas and a holiday coming along the way, I realised there's something else worth "hohoho"-ing about. The head of the team I'm eyeing (to join) will be coming over to the office next week. Hopefully we can work out something really nice.
Hohoho!

7 days!
Wheeeeee!! Another 7 days+ and I'm on my way to enjoying Xmas alone in mid air with a bunch of strangers! =P
Past 3 days were kinda crazy. I finally realised how important and how much that other Geek has been doing for me. With him away for that period of time, I had to answer his calls in Japanese. The worst thing was, once those people start to realize a Japanese speaker is around (instead of someone telling them in English he's not around), they started calling my line directly. I don't really mind so much if it's someone I know (since they can make do with my less-than-good-enough language ability). But it got to a point when strangers started calling me. All of a sudden, I had to listen to technical issues in Japanese, get the answers, and reply to them in Japanese. -_-; very good training huh.... somehow the questions got harder and harder, cheemer and cheemer...
Met a disgusting uncle on the bus today. He was looking at me from head to feet all the while I was standing him on the bus. And when I turned to look at his eyes, he smiled at me, and continued throwing glances at me. Yicks!!! I took a seat later, and he was standing just beside me and kept pushing his body towards my seat! What more, he later 'pinched' my bag up using his fingers and pushed it inwards abit, saying to me "跑出来了". Arrggghhh!! The last straw was when he put one leg onto the raised platform of my seat. I gave him a hard long stare, and it didn't take long before he got off the bus.
Yuck.

Life
A friend passed away. It's someone whom I could connect to, back in JC... we've lost touch during Uni days... but he just wished me happy birthday few months back... and we promised that we'd marry each other if we're still single by 30, basically coz he's good at housework.
And I got to know how another got deceived of emotions and money from someone he trusted so much, to only realise that person has calculated her moves right from the start. I was pretty much angry with myself for not having taken care of him, and when he was going through all of it, I wasnt there for him.
And I was just feeling upset (all over again) about the same old matter... when I found out that my problems were non-existent compared to others. I'm so lucky that I dont even know how blessed I am. Should really pay more attention to what people are saying and feeling right?
On a much much much (though not so light) lighter note, I happened to watch the new show on Channel 8 last night. The first scenes were about how this cold blooded killer, knowing that his wife is with another man, kidnapped his family (who were running away from him). He pinned his wife onto the floor and while strangling her, telling her she was the person he loved most, and how he would never her to betray his love for her. Yes, he finally killed the wife and threw her into the sea, saying sorry but he'd make sure he pays back to that other man for causing her death.
It also left me tragically traumatized as I imagine it happening to me. It could have happened to me at some point in time, I thought.
What a start to a week.
If it helps, i wish i could leave everything here to be with the Geek right now. But then again, I won't wanna be separated from my family and friends for long.... :/ Life is a big irony itself.
What an awfully gloomy day...

ほっとした
Finally completed the paper!! Yay!! Was actually looking forward to finishing it so that the air around me would be back to normal (or not?) again... Been neglecting my social life which probably has gone into extinction awhile ago…
Paper itself. Grammar/Vocab portion was abit easier than expected… and Reading was a killer. Most of my friends didn’t have time to finish all of it. And even though I did (coz I was timing myself for each qn), I’m quite sure some answers were there only coz I needed to fill something up =P well well……
Listening was a lot easier than I thought. And it got me kinda worried if I fell for something. But according to the rest, it was really much easier, so…. It helped a lot too that we’re all in Biz Jap class coz the amount of keigo that came up was much much higher than previous years. Gotta thank the sensei for drilling us like a sadist hahaha…..
I’m still wary about listening to his news. To be frank, some memories, good and bad, raced through my mind several times throughout this period of time… I know I should have been studying and such things is not of my concern but………
Was talking to Clara yesterday, and telling her that I wanna move out and to Japan soon. The first thing she asked me was “How about Ah Ma? Is she going to live alone?”.
It seems like the only person in the house with a heart to care is just this 7 years old lass. Love her to bits!

The road we walked together
Not sure if I would wanna know about it if I had a choice. A colleague filled me up with news of K's wedding that took place last week. As she went on and on about it, I was trying to look nonchalant and cool about it =| At the back of my mind, everything's going haywire and I felt as if sparks were flying all over the place in my head.
I didnt feel happy nor unhappy about it.
It just left me confused.
One thing, by making me suffer through those bad times and guilt that lasted even today, he moved on first. I felt left behind. But all in all, I must say it's a good thing for sure that we're moving on. Maybe I will be able to release the 心结 that's been in me all along, and spare the Geek from the worrying.
The thought of leaving kinda saddens me abit. There's been so many people who have been too kind and shown me loads of guidance and patience all along. It's as though they treat you like their own kids, or maybe their niece. Very grateful to have these people shown me kindness from deep down the heart, in the workplace. What you taught, I will bring with me to wherever I may be.
I wish for the best for everyone, a new start!
Looking forward to 2011!
Oh I saw Matsuyama Kennichi again. Ended up we were in the same bus the whole journey but I didnt realise it.

まだまだ。。。
No tumbler for me. This is fate.

Nonetheless, quite happy that I've managed a ok pass this time round.... it's not enough though, coz this means that you are in the danger zone whereby external factors can decide if it's a pass or fail for the real thing. My vocab sux real bad, I think. It's only the tikam skills that helped when I realised I wasnt confident of answering any question in the entire page.
Turned up for class even though I felt like skipping it. Was quite thankful to myself for pulling through the 2 classes, with a long break (and lonely lunch) in between. I felt quite touched seeing the teachers so committed to educating us straight from their hearts. I'm pretty sure it's not for money, being a language teacher doesnt pay well at all. When my teacher waved to me happily spotting me hanging around to study (while waiting for Biz Jap), a part of me felt very warm.
Exhausted after work ytd, but managed to drag myself to study and spent a night with the school kids. Then on the way back, I just felt super depressed about almost everything. It felt as though someone up there is playing this big prank on me, to trash and retrash my confidence again and again. And I thought I had someone to share my thoughts with, but I might be wrong afterall.

On 2nd thoughts, i would rather not spend time talking about those people who work without principle, while acting like they are full of dignity.

Dancing?
It's amazing that I come home almost everyday with renewed resolution on my decision. It's as though I'm confirming again and again, that it is right.
It's also quite amusing to watch people act like clowns around the bosses, when all their so-called principles and morals crumble and all they wanna do is to follow bosses' orders. The minute the bosses are out of sight, these wuss will start behaving as though they are so high up there.
And don't even me started about how they admire the angmohs......

It's not that I dont like you. In fact, I think you look pretty cute.

Filial Piety
I always liked the reading section of JLPT practices... coz very often, there's passages that you find meaning to while reading (even though u were being timed, or in the middle of a paper!).. This takes abit of the toll away from digesting those long passages I guess...
There's this passage I came about during the last lesson, which left me thinking for quite some time... It talks about "親孝行" (filial piety). Some parents have hopes that their kids will be filial to them in the future when they will grow old... but according to the author, it's not needed. Instead, from the time before the child is born, to the minute he is born, this kid has given his parents much more joy than they would expect. Imagine parents who indulge in thinking up of names for their kids... this is one of the pleasure you get from the anticipation. Watching their children grow up, to call them "Papa" or "Mama", taking their first steps, entering primary school, etc... these also comprises of joy and pride to the parents right?
In summary, the point he was driving at was (which also happens to be the answer) 「子供は幼いころに親に対して生きる喜びをすでに与えており、それが何よりの親孝行であろう。」.
Paper today was alright. I guess it should be better than the last one, hopefully... i told myself (then) that if i passed the last mock, i would get myself the red tumbler as a reward. Not getting it is a punishment. I missed the passing grade by2 1 marks #)&#'%#$+!
This time round, I raised the standard and would only get it if I get 75. Looks possible but let's just see. The listening part was abit tricky. One thing was that the speaker was very muffled and I couldnt make out what the voices were saying, not even the pronunciation. It didnt help that those voices didnt sound like native Japanese speaking.... and i trust my hearing coz listening has been my strongest area eversince the Geek appeared in my life...
Mental note to myself: Must work on the vocab.
This is the part I always disliked studying for. In the end, I turned to doing grammar, which I think I got pretty good at... could answer almost all of grammar with confidence, save for 1 qn while 90% of the vocab had their fate rested on tikam... tsktsk.
Still cant decide on a s95 or LX-5... it's just a cam, dunno why i have to torture myself over it.... but then again, my camera means alot to me, not just in terms of specs, size... but also design... i must say s95 looks pretty crappy despite the quality and size!
31 days to the trip!! Yipee!!
I'm telling myself if the nagging headache doesnt stop nagging, i will go on medical leave.. bless me...

Flashbacks
It seems like yesterday, when Gong told me about her pregnancy and we were chatting excitedly over the entire thg...
It seems like yesterday, when the last Xmas party took place...
It seems like yesterday, when I first met the Geek and then slowly hang out more...
It seems like yesterday, when my first niece was born, when I was staying overnight at the Red Bench to finish projects...
It seems like yesterday, when we sat at the floor of Serene Mac, when we stood in the sun drilling for our marches, and when Mr Lee first inspired us...
Signs of getting on age.
Half of us are still hanging ard each other, while the other half might be hanging around their own circle. =)

Old women.

Restless night
I woke up today and felt like the 2 hours spent in the room yesterday was like a war... those obstinate uncles are such a pain in the ass, maybe that's why they are put into cold storage all the way up in a ulu ulu place....
I'm beginning to be super paranoid abt losing things from my hand... woke up in the middle of the night when i didnt feel the ring in my finger, and tried looking for it. Thank god it was just on the desk... not the first time already!!
2weeks+ to the exam... not that far away, so i told myself, it wont kill u to work hard for 2 weeks haha.... ive really lost it i think?!
there's many things im looking forward to.. but on the other hand, the situation may not be better even if they turn out how u have planned... well at least we've moving on without regretting not having tried right? =)

It's a holiday!
I wonder if things will actually turn out for the better, even slightly... In the last training I did, I'm very assured yours truly is a analytical, logical, systematical (or whatever ~cal you name, i have it) thinker. That said, I think and argue with logic, though i can get rather unsystematic at times, most of the time. During today's meeting, I really felt a sense of relief knowing that I have made up my mind on a date.
It's just not my day. But it's ok, since things will not turn out worse everyday right? It's gonna be better sometime, someday.... meanwhile, i should spend my efforts on happier things, talking to people i love...
ok. btw i didnt manageto look at see Matsuyama Kenichi's butt today.
明日ゴロゴロしたいなぁ。。。食べたり、ドラマを見たり。。。いやっ、そんなわけはないですよ!休みはあと1ヶ月後、その日まで我慢できるのか。。。

Before I forget...
I met Matsuyama Kenichi on the bus to work today, and he works at HP building. Saw his staff pass drop onto the floor as I walked behind him.
Woke up with a message to myself today. "Get the team new desktops!". Wonder what took me so long to realise the need...

3 weeks
Finally got down to putting down onto paper things that have to be done. Reality check says I have to let go of some things, which I did pretty willingly haha... Just a few weeks left so no point going after too many things...
Hopefully this will discourage procrastination!
Another 39 days (says the counter, not me)... Somehow it doesnt feel like there's less than 1.5mths left to the much awaited end of year trip... but anyhows, YAY!

Goner
I realised, the mock papers actually affect how confident I feel about it, and that will in turn affect my efforts in preparing for the exams, and eventually affect my grades. The paper today was difficult, or I should say, many of the passages were so abstract, both of us just werent sure what we were reading. There was a passage from Haruki Murakami's novel even! At one time in time, i found myself drifting in between the real world and dream world just coz i was just too tired and going nowhere with those passages.
Changed my parting few days ago and everyone starting commenting how nice i looked. Ive seriously lost count. Thank you Every Body. Not trying to be funny here, but this made me wonder, if they had felt that i didnt look good before, nobody would bother telling u. they would only tell u if u look nice/better, coz that's their way of being kind. But not exactly true, right?
Im so gone today.

42... and counting ↓
Another 42 days before I can leave... oh add another 10hours...
I'm so bored bored bored.... sometimes I don't know whether to laugh (being positive) or knit my eyebrows (being real) at those idiots...

X-rays

It's the 115th Anniversary of the discovery of X rays!
Haha always count on Google to learn about such things, or it may be just a reminder. Human technology? Alright, I'm thinking incoherently.
Suddenly thought of the time in Japan when I was very fresh and told my colleague"基板がヤバイ" and burst out laughing helplessly... im such a goner...
Work tmr, and gotta rush out that irritating essay for the training. Then it's another day of holiday! I love our founder's day coz that's the only time i can bum around without the usual crowd!!
Turned up for class on Sat morn, only to realise that it was the mock test. Cannot describe the shock i had when the teacher handed me the exam qns instead of the usual practice sheets... and since i was 20mins late and in a fluster, i decided i wont be able to do well enough and left... with more than 5h to spare before the next class.... got myself a book fr Prologue, shopped ard abit and settled down nicely at Starbucks! Saw this women who look like she just walked out of Orchard Tower.... so amusing... on 2nd tots, I think it's a He.

Phew!
Finally done with the training.
The training that made pretty unsure if being stuck in the classroom or to be back in the office is a worse scenario. Anyways, it's over and I know for sure I'll hafta be back tmr bleargh!
Was rushing through some materials yesterday for the group presentation, which turned out actually to be not graded, unlike what the trainer said... ermmm..... I stayed up for it and this is what I get.... Not to mention, there's another 1000 words essay which we have to hand up by the end of this week. The first training that I'm spending so much time (outside of training time) on... -.-
Some of the results of the assessments of myself turned out pleasantly surprising. I think the one most worth mentioning was that I was considered a "Person you would want to have fun with", the participant with 2nd highest no. of votes from the rest, just falling behind the first guy by 1 vote. Just in case you are wondering, no, I havent been vocal but really been trying to stay awake haha... maybe it helps that I'm one of the youngest participants around.....
Back to office... back to reality....

夢
i realised, i do dream in Japanese afterall... was drifting in and out of dreamland today and when the alarm rang, I woke up into consciousness and remembered my dream forming in Japanese. Maybe this means I'm effectively trilingual hahahahaha....
Tried making a spongecake today... didnt do very well but not really a flop =) in fact quite happy with the taste and texture... only problem was that it didnt rise well and i ended up without the fluffy ふわふわ feeling... this would encourage me to work on it more =)

Friday..
some ppl seen as less fussy, more flexi... but maybe they are continuosly trying to enjoy everythg they do, even if it might not be sth they wld want to spend time on. Finding joy in everythg?
My engineer broke down in front of me again today. Makes me wonder if im really harsh enough to make a mother of 2 cry... i know im straight, and can get quite harsh at times... but ive harboured any thoughts of crushing her confidence, only do myself bad right? wonder what i can do to help both of us, especially when im not someone to be shower TLC... not willing to motherhen a mother too!
was at coro trying to force myself to do some revision, since staying at hm wld mean a futile day... quite happy it turned out pretty fruitful, but im dead tired after the rushing ard and battles...

Discipline
It's Wed tmr, and the first day back into office after the *ahem boring* training. Am determined to knock off on time!!
The only good thing abt reading those mail was realizing that no matter how boring the training is, it can never beat the frustrations you get from dealing with those people from the company.
Mom is finally back, and man I'm really glad!! =)

ハート
Grateful for the Geek who took the effort to remember to bring the charger over and left it here for me. Being the guy who forgets things before you could say "eh", it's really quite admirable hahaha... ok im making a mountain out of a molehill.
To think I was half cursing under my breath while trying to figure out where it was, suspecting he brought it back without realizing... It's actually placed neatly in a small compartment... ♥

I'm snapping, I think. Or rather, I might have already snapped unknowingly (with a wimpy "taaaat")...
Wondering if I should sharpen my blade today for a good killing, or sit back and relax... probably the millionth work related entry to date!

Hanging on
Couldnt get to sleep and was reading the company mail (darn me! stupid!)!!! Got so frustrated (as usual) and wondered if I can even hang on for 2 more months, plus. It helps that I'll be spending 2 days end Oct and early Nov each week on a training course, and the fact that Nov is filled with holidays. Then it's gonna be Dec where JLPT would be over and we'll aaa be in Year's end celebratory mood, it's just holiday to look forward to.
The big question is, who can guarantee that nothing major will happen to push me off balance?
Something happier.
Got this from my mailbox, among all the mails chasing after me... at least it puts me in a good mood (for like 3mins before it gets screwed up again) and I think mine was one of the better one among my team. Dont know how they got hold of this 'look' though coz my latest HR pic is that with long straight hair... Imagination from the guys in Japan?

Compliments X
I'm bad at accepting compliments. And this is all I will write about this title haha...
Was roped into the Asian GMCs strategy meeting in the last min today. Told by the boss when I stepped into office that I'll be attending it, in 10mins time. Wonder what would have happened if I had stepped into office 15mins later, since it's still a full 30mins before work starts.
Meeting was fine, just a few minor surprises here and there. Was quite interesting seeing that Aussie guy act crybaby. The CEO suddenly asked me to make some speech/comments towards the end of the meeting, and i just blabbered some nonsensical stuffs. Think its a very Japanese thing to ask people to say something for the sake of it? My crazy boss did it all the time.
Sat with Ah Beng most of the time and there were lotsa interaction. Only then I'm convinced I'm right. The 4 eyes too. He's pretty straight, simple minded in a very strange way. Maybe it's just "boring" to me. When I was back to my workdesk, he came over and tried to make some small talks and he asked if I ever punched 4 eyes (being my subordinate). I answered "nope, 汚いから". The next min i knew it, he went on at 4 eyes "汚い、臭いって" a few times... i nearly fell off my seat in the immensely cold joke that he tried very hard to make. He then went on to say that he saw many Singaporean men who dont wash their hands after visiting the toilet and hold their gfs' hands straight after that (Singaporean men, issit true???). I simply told him "actually a local male staff has told me b4 he's seen many Japanese men in our office not washing their hands in the toilet too. be careful coz someone's watching u in the toilet!". He just stopped talking for awhile hahahaha.............. Saw a very interesting character in the meeting too =)
Remb the invitation from my boss in Japan, for me to work in the HQ if i wanted to? I'm kinda tempted to take up the offer, not under R&D but pdt mgmt. It might be something that I want to and can do well. I'm just wondering if I should stay on here....
And all those figures and terms today got me thinking about going for MBA again, i dont feel i need to do MOT.... cant seem to make up my mind huh?!
Since the geek was here, I have pix to show! =)
The GF1 will be here with me till Dec since he wont have to take any pix (how to when you are slogging away in office everyday?)... and I'm gonna get the LX-5 so he can use it for the time being hee...

Good miss
Is getting good with Japlish.
And I thought I was going to fail my mock test by 1 point.
The fact is that, with the new exam format, the passing criteria has been brought down to 100 points, which I thought is very low!
But it doesn't mean it's gonna be easy haha... with less points to play around, you have a higher risk with every mistake. And the questions are gonna be harder to score too... tough luck! -_-

Think got mom very worried ytd when I got home and sat down in front of the PC and started staring (at recipes).
She came into my room and asked “什么事情?有人欺负你啊?”
She can be so cute at times.

旅行的意義
This, of course, has no related to this post. Just that I only realised now we have not finished watching this MTV till the end at the KTV yet.
Part of the joy in taking a trip, is the excitement of looking forward to the trip itself isnt it? When it comes to a time where you don't have the time to plan/think about it, you lost a big part of the enjoyment.
Look how well the anime is made... so amazing!
Officially obsessed with this anime and shall find a day to finish watching it =P

Blogging during lunchtime, usually means ive been too occupied lately.
Super busy at work, which is good in a way coz time passes by really fast. But I ended up doing more OT than intended to and by the time I knock off, there's no mood/motivation to study anymore.
I'm beginning to feel more hopeful about passing. But it's not going to come easy so better put in some efforts.
About work. I found out a big screw up by my big boss in Japan, and got the whole world alarmed. Knew that the eventual consequences would fall on my team (since the big boss isn't the do-er), but rather face it now than later when everything spirals out of hand right?
Got alot of comments from colleagues in Japan that the big boss went back and told them my Japanese is very good. Eh, I (am and) should be happy. But no expectation means no disappointment. Now got expectation liaoz...
The Geek will be here in about a week's time! =) Happiness.......

Champions
Took part in the company's RC game (Amazing Race) today and won! It's alot of good luck plus very capable team members, and of cos good team work! The $500 hard cash to be shared among 8 of us, probably for dinner or sth, is not alot. But the game was made so much more enjoyable when you are in a team of colleagues whom you (mostly) like. Well done all of us!!
Maybe it's abit bhb but the people in office expected us to win, and we did too, or at least the top 3. Coz somehow or another, we're made up of siao onz staff who always take part in company events and end up winning something somehow or another. =P This has gotta be one of the most memorable days of my last few months here.....
Had abit much of the wine at the bbq that followed. Feeling abit sleepy, but there's still the test tmr.... I see the same patterns for the last, this and the next weeks....
Wakey!! 頑張ろう!

Weekend Blues
Dinner/drinking session with the *ahem other* geek and the oldie... wasnt that fantastic and burnt a big hole in my pocket. But at the very least, I can say I've done my part and that I dont have to do it again. Was good that the boy was ard to accompany me else I would have to do cheers with the oldie, over a 4litre beer tower... madness! And at least I think I've got my ideas clear now.
Woke up the next day and ended up being 45mins late for prep class, though I guess I havent missed much since they were doing some test which I didnt study for, as usual. Skipped biz jap though, coz i was dozing off during the prep class. The nagging headache didnt help too.
At times, I still think it's actually not so much a far fetched thing for me to pass the exam. Anyway, just try my best yeah? よし、勉強しよう!
It suddenly occurred to me that i havent been furnishing this blog with pix, not even boring ones.

Miscellaneously Random
Passing time
It's easier to get by when there's a goal to look forward to. The date, that is. Nothing has been done yet when it comes to the preparation that I should be working for before that day arrives. Hahaha.... will someone please give me a hard nudge?
As high as possible
You should be striving to get as high as possible above the line. On the other hand, I'm working hard to get as high as possible, and cross that (my) by means of some miracle(s).
爱情的发展已难以回头却无法往前走 - 心跳
This is how I had felt for the past r/s. Stuck, or even constipated. Let us always bear this in mind, to think twice (or thrice) before doing something silly to take away everything we are fortunate enough to have.
even the labels are misc.

受委屈
"If I want to be calculative with you, your life here will not be so easy."
These words came up during an unpleasant talk with the Mother just now, when she asked about my dinner and I said I've taken it, feeling hungry and cant be bothered much about pride. She then went on about why I wanna make his life difficult. I'm not. If I'm hungry, I'll go to the dinner table no matter who's there. So if she (the wife) doesnt wanna come to the dinner table just because I'm seated there, it's my fault. Huh?
Anyways, the discussion led to no ends.
I ended it by promising I'll end all the sandwiching misery for her in 6 months. That means, by hook or by crook, I'll have to be outta this place, be it in another place in SG or another country. If that's what you want, anyway, I'm not keen to witness people talking to each other at the top of their voices.
On to less unpleasant stuffs. The Biz Jap class had 2 new guys, who just came back from Japan after over 1 year stay. One of them seem pretty stuck up, as if he totally hated it when sensei corrects him (thats what we all came to class for, i thought?). The other one is much friendlier, and we chatted abit, and I got to know that he chanced upon a technical job in Tokyo, without even wanting to initially, but ended up staying there for over 2 years. According to him, the chances of progression for foreigners is really low. He blamed it on the economy, and that they are still not open to foreigners, yet. I hope it's not all true, coz it'll mean me dumping my lollipop for H2O in the very near future.
He said that in Japan, people could understand what he said and he got along with life fine. Sensei is abit too 厳しい, he commented, nobody cares about your language accuracy, at least not that much. I told him, he should feel lucky to find a sensei who's not hesitant in correcting everything so that you can present yourself better in the business environment. I didnt tell him the part that his colleagues were probably sniggering at his Japanese behind his back. And maybe, that says why he didnt get the progression he (thought he) deserved.
These people can be super nice and praise you to no end in front of you, but at the back of their mind, you're probably nowhere near acceptable.

Back!
Yes, I'm back! To Sunny Island, from Sunnier Island!
For the first time in my life, I did a speech in Bahasa Malaysia. Didn't understand much of what I said, coz everything was translated based on my English script. I just tried to make the pronunciation as accurate as possible.
Was quite impressed with the malaysia factory (yes, that's where I went). They really looked professional and everything was in order (at least that's what I saw). The equipments were good ones, and well maintained too.
The office was very different from what we have here. Over in SG, the Japanese adapted to the local style of working whereas in Malaysia, the locals adapted to the Japanese style. So in a way, I felt like I was back in the Japan office... And it also seemed like if you know Japanese, you would be more prized and appreciated. But no such things here. I think it says alot about how locals (we Singaporeans vs Malaysians) think, and the Japanese people too.
One thing that got me all flattered and big headed was when I had dinner with the big boss and the R&D manager. I could join in most of their conversation and apparently they were quite impressed. In the meeting room the next day, there was actually this lady (with JLPT1 cert) with us who was supposed to translate. But halfway through the meeting, she either got lost, or the conversation went too technical for her, and I ended being the one translating to and fro J-E. Happy with myself too. I should, though, really brush up on Business Japanese though.
Another news. The big boss seems to know something already. During the dinner, the manager asked if Singaporean ladies work after getting married, and I said yeap, coz it's better with 2 income. The boss then started saying "You know, if you get married, you should come to Japan and work in the Japan HQ.". I went.... "huh... why Japan?". And he just looked into my eyes (not kidding!) and said "Because (he is) Japanese". I was dumbfounded covered up my mouth very childishly. I just stayed quiet for the next 1 minute.....

Dec!
Booked my tic! Hee got ANA despite the steeper price... Think it's worth it, for the better service u get... But I should really be saving up, like what i told ZP, save up for the &temporary retirement' haha... ok and i did try, didnt give in to temptations and gave up looking at some dresses earlier today..
At least there's sth to look forward to now, even though its like sooooooooooooo faaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr away.... And oh, the Oct meeting!

This day...
... I hate it when I get frustrated with people easily and start behaving harshly.
... I hate it when I have to entertain all my crazy thoughts.
... I hate it when I'm unsure of my own feelings.
... I hate the feeling when I feel like I'm about to stray, but people just trust you like they usually do.
... I just want to slow down and think about my life. But it sucks when I'm actually the one who's stopping myself from doing so.
I think I'm just feeling extremely weak today. It's good that I'm home now, instead of wandering outside. Yet another week has passed by just like this, I'm not sure to be glad it means 1 week off the long wait, or feel bad that I've wasted another week not achieving anything.
To KL this Sun, and back on Mon evening. I dont even comprehend/agree with the reason I have to be there.

Happy Bdae
Yet another day, yet another year! Happy Birthday to myself!!
Everyone's asking why I haven't taken leave on this day... but I can't see the reason to, so I can't explain why not...
I coined a new tagline whilearguing discussing with the GM (this Japanese guy) yesterday. It goes...
"The smartest men I've seen don't argue with me (so stop embarrassing yourself...)"
I told the Geek and now he's willing to pay me royalty each time he says it to his bosses.

Daydreams
I'm already day dreaming of strolling down to the Mister Donut store near his place after the visit to the shrine on New Year Eve, to get the fukubukuro. Somebody save me!!!
Starbucks Sakura
It suddenly occurred to me. I wanna get a new sakura tumbler from Starbucks next Spring… and this will indicate my new start! =) 6 months to counting down, it seems so far away….

さくら - いきものがかり
this song was all over the place while I was in Japan few years ago. And it has been in my iPod(s) eversince.
On a side note, I seriously doubt I can pass JLPT1 this year... definitely not that this rate I'm going... =|

Family Love
He threatened me, so being me, I dared him.
How stupid.
Oh can I say, it's the 2nd time he's telling me he can do things to me if he wants to? But the last time I dared him, I didnt feel anything coming. Cracking my head now as to what he can really do to me.
Letting his insane partner loose and go around biting/hallucinating?

The Brother (finally) talked to me, when he asked if I asked Nemo that the sweets I got for her are not meant for her sis. As an aunt, I agree thats not the perfect thing to do. I said yeap, I said so. And why do you want to always buy things only for Nemo, thus creating such negative feelings between the girls, he asked. That was never my intentions, and what he said wasnt true. I had always made sure I got 2 sets of stuffs for the girls whenever I go overseas, even at times, their cousins (my sisters' kids) may not even get anything. He only saw the part when I had chose not to give the spoilt brat, coz it was when I had just handed over the present from Italy and the next moment, she turned her head without saying thanks and ignored me from then on. Nemo has always respected me more as an aunt, and that's what she deserves for behaving.
I won't reward a kid for bad behavior. That would be the perfect way to spoil her further. Looking at the way she's turning out coz of you people not being bothered to discipline her, I guess I dont have to contribute further.
Dont even get me started about the prata guy, who flipped facts and chewed words countless times today. And about the Geek!!
Today shall be "Me Against the Rest of The World Day"!

This heightened frustration and continuous nonsense isn’t helping me to hold out till Jan the 7th. It’s worse that I had to pick up a fight with him (yes, I’m always the one initiating a fight!!) at this time.

Meeting!
Wheeee! He's coming over in Oct, and just got the tic! Supposed to be a birthday celebration so he wanted to be here mid Sept... but these airline cos are just out to earn money, a tic in Sept costs 3万more than that in Oct!! WTH? Anyway, meeting in Aug then in Oct followed by Dec seems better 'paced'.....
So happy!!
And that reminds me of my Dec tic... what's stopping me is not knowing about my next move... Tix in Dec cost quite a bomb too, and I wont be able to redeem my UOB points since those in that category are all sold out =(

JLPT
Signed up for the exam today. Hope everything goes well. By that, i mean, i hope i would actually put in the effort to really study and improve myself (not just to score).
Got back results of the mock test today, and it was rather surprising that I passed. Maybe this will keep motivation up for awhile... =)
The Geek behaved kinda weirdly today... Hmm will ask him abt it tmr...

:(
Heard 2 stories of people breaking up just within 1 day of return, both of which involve parties who are close to me. Hmmm.... in both cases, it seems like the ladies weren't exactly happy with their guys' careers, how much they are earning, and their 'pride', as the ladies see it.
Which brings me to appreciate the fact that I'm surrounded by females who work hard themselves, not depending on their guys, and not needing them to have to (worry about) providing for them. =)
Glad to be back from the trip. Not that I didnt enjoy it or what, in fact, it was fantastic. The places were beautiful and amazing. But the stress of having to rush for trains/flights/ships really freak me out alot, and isnt something I wanna live with constantly. And it was so hot & humid that I got frustrated easily though we wanted to see alot more stuffs. I wished I could spare more days to slow down abit, I might enjoy it much much more. And to answer to Lin (coz you dont have a comment box!! =P), there were some purchases, but apparently shopping isnt a guy's fave pasttime, so there were limited time for me to walk ard the air of luxury brands haha.
Back to work today. Bleargh.

KS
Think i have a really ks classmate haha.... she's the kind who will ask you what kinds of qns came out during tests (coz i took them earlier), asked if u prepared for exam, and uses her arms to block anyone from looking at her paper (not like i was trying to, but her actions were too distracting)....
I just wanna go and sleep haha... apparently look myself very up eh.....
Got kinda fed up today when I heard the MD talk abt Japan side (R&D) promising to release sth by midnight today. This something is the product that the Geek had to take over all of a sudden. It's when I heard that, then I felt so frustrated. My guy has been staying over in office these few weeks coz those people agreed to something, without even consulting the doers. Now that's not new to me.... but I can't believe they actually think they can slave drive people like this, and expect those doers to sustain their motivation/strength/whatever. What's there to look forward to for these guys (save for the Geek, coz he's been brainwashed by me that everyone needs a holiday every few mths)?!
Then on the other hand, I realized what kept the Geek going. He has his goals of gaining as much technical experience as he can, in his 20s, while he can still afford to burn himself out. After which, of coz it's moving on to higher level.... I looked at how I'm complaining all day and felt kinda ashamed of myself....
I hope I'm not going mad, yet........
Oh and, everyone had a good laugh at the Chorei session today! 成功!

Moving on
Feels much better knowing the result. Even though I still feel abit of injustice that I had been judged based on my uni grades, which took place so long ago. Even if I had a better proposal, performed better at the interview or could bring better benefits back to SG, it didn't matter.
On the other hand, I can only have myself to blame, for neglecting my studies during those days. Don't ask me why I did so though haha... and we're talking about a scholarship here, it's only right that they refer to past grades.
But at least, as I've said, I have not let myself down. One good thing is that I can finally move on to other things, those short term goals that I should have placed my attention on, and decisions on long term plans.
Let's move forward!

Dried up
No mail. No news.
Was busy running all over the place this morning, until I finally got back to my desk. Once again I started checking mails and thinking about it... It's draining me out mentally.
Got my hair brush yesterday, so my hair looks fine hahaha....
Ok kill me please.

Can’t help wondering when I see people doing redundant job. Can’t stand it when I’m made to do that redundant job, and when I try to reason it out, I get the response “anyway… just do it.”. Are these people brain dead or what?
Hey I’m not about to give up my bright (but rainy) day for such petty things. I have more things to look forward to!! =)

New Hairstyle
My new hairstyle got more attention then ever. Luckily all very positive ones. All the ladies started asking where I did it, for how much. Even Ah Beng was saying that it looks very nice and thinks that I spent alot of money on it, when in fact it's really very reasonable. Woooohoooooo......... This is the highlight of this week man! And of cos, the meeting this evening has been cancelled!
Very happy with this hairstyle, coz my head is super light now (but still got brains inside)! I like this feeling when my hair is originally very long, then by chopping off those tresses, my head, body and mind all seem lighter! Now the problem is how I maintain it, coz the styling today was done by the hairstylist. I'll be on my own tonight onwards, and she warned that the curls will seem pretty springy coz it's still v fresh. *cross fingers cross toes*
Starting from today, I'm going to be a mail checking engine once again.
Had a bad dream yesterday... don't wanna think about it =(

Net Addiction
Did a presentation slides on Net Addiction, for leading the chorei for this week. If you are still not aware, I have been unfortunate enough to be one of the privileged people to have to go through a whole week of presentation, after the promotion (that didnt feel much like one).
Anyways, I didnt want to end up doing something so boring, since I know the pain of standing through a whole presentation by some stupid accountant who thinks that we want to learn how to calculate the company accounts, or (super technical details on) the new GST implementation in Msia. That's your job, not ours. So I was racking my brains and finally decided on this theme.
It was quite funny coz I got some really ridiculous pix to go along with, so it didnt really feel like a formal thgy... I had wanted to put it more "impressive" images, but decided not to bog everyone down on a Monday (i smell bluesss).... Sent the draft one to the Geek, and he asked if it's for some marketing gimmicks haha...

While I was going through these articles, I realised it is actually myself (and many of you guys out there) I'm reading about. It's interesting to get to know about your addiction from this perspective. Or maybe not.
Finally, a post about work on a happier note, everysince the longest time!!
I'm only done with the Monday portion... Dont wanna burn my weekend on it!
And while I'm at it
Step 1: Submission
Step 2: Documents screening
Step 3: Exams
Step 4: Interview
Step 5: Embassy nomination
Step 6: Confirmation
Oh, and I cut (and permed) my hair really short today. Will have to learn how to style this new length so as not to look like AnafoooOxide =P Mock test this coming sat!! And we havent done any planning for Italy trip yet!! Ahhh.....

The BF & Company
Is angry with the company for keeping the bf in office, day after day.
Dont they even realise constant firefighting this way will only burn people out, and even bring down your entire team/company? There's just something soooooooo wrong here!
I wonder what's with their mind. Those ang mohs demanding things, and the Japanese, in order to be seen as giving and to keep their 'face', pushing everyone off their limit.
We should do something about our lives. I think with our capabilities, both of us can lead better lives away from here.
*RRRAAAAWWWWRRRR*

計画
We were discussing alternatives, just in case I dont get the scholarship. Dont get me wrong, I'm still hopeful, and I feel that I do stand a good chance. But it's always good to make plans if all else fails.
I asked for his opinions for the options I'm considering
1. Study full time and work part time
2. Study part time and work full time
3. Simply work full time
4. Study Japanese for some time, then get a good full time job
He chose 1, simply coz he feels it's good to further my studies, and having done part time Masters, he knows how hard it can be. There was even an attractive offer thrown in, that if I chose to do my Masters at Uni H, he'll pay for my living expense! Very attractive indeed. The other Uni W, which was my first choice due to the specialization, is basically a private U which charges exorbitant fees and spends a bomb on publicity. Uni H, on the other hand, is a public Uni which has a very good reputation in this field. But obviously, more people would wanna try to get into Uni H.
So the point is, how to make sure that I do get into Uni H?
Thinking of leaving this position latest by Nov, so that I can work on my JLPT, pass it, then move on to concentrate on the University application, entrance exam, essays, GMAT, etc......
Finally something positive and concrete to work for and look forward to!

The Interview
I still think I stand a good chance. Not say I'm confident of getting it, but after reviewing my performance, I think I did pretty well. And I could see that I got them engaged into the conversation, really agreeing to what I've said and contributing their views.
Oh ya, the interviewer was saying that my score for the Japanese paper was extremely good. This left me feeling very good even if this might not be considered.
Anyway, results will be out next week, whether I get it or not.
So at least I wont be a mail checking engine this week.

No regrets
Did my best.
Didnt say anything that would let myself down.
What I can only imagine stopping me would be the fact that they dont really have a thing for approving applications for MBA... and prob my uni grades (though I think I did a good job of defensing it).
So it's all in their hands. And I have nothing to regret. =)
Get it or not, I'll move on from here! Yay!
Of course, it doesnt hurt if they give me some good news haha....

Skiving
I realised that I turn into a super machine whenever it comes to skiving off work that I cant concentrate on. For example, raking in a grand total of 4 posts today (as of now i mean), and scoring a personal high in Bejeweled.

The first one was, already a personal high, though I havent beat the no. 1 guy in my list... 2 minutes later, before i know it, i've usurped him as the bejeweled geek.
Alrite, I should go back to serious work, now that I've made history.

iPad
Geek showed his family the pix from the wedding, in full glory, using the super clear iPad. They were quite into the album, commenting as they went, until they got to a point where everyone went quiet. The picture of Mr Bartender hugging the bride and myself.
It's not even funny.
Now I so dont wanna meet them for another 1 year!!!

Desperado
I want it so badly!
And I was just thinking, if I should stop myself from (looking like im) trying too hard... or just go all out even if i seem desperate.
Hmmm... last year was the first one, but im not very convinced to try the 2nd style this time round... arrggghhhh.....

Step by step: 3
Step 4: Interview
Step 5: Embassy nomination
Step 6: Confirmation
Had the papers today. English was pretty straight forward and easy, and I doubt there's much mistakes, if any. Japanese one was abit challenging, especially the 2 long passages, since i suck big time at reading long cheem passages and tend to drift off haha.... It didnt help when I thought the paper was going to end at 12noon, instead of 12.10pm... so i kinda rushed through the last part. Dont think i did too badly for that though... nothing could be worse than the paper last year haha... 20 killer passages! A few of the candidates walked out of the exam room after they were told that the results of Japanese paper would be taken into account. Some others were obviously tikam-ing. I was just very glad that my Biz Jap and prep classes really help to boost my confidence.
Now on to the interview. I must ace it. I will (psycho myself to) succeed.
Note to myself: must buy moisturizer and pay for rest of cc bill!

Rule No. 2
2. Watch what you say.
If possible, rethink, rethink, and rethink.
Coz you never know when these same words would come back and bite you.

Rule No. 1
The Golden Rules
1. Take and Take
Some things they want, today means today, no 2nd word about it. I've never seen a more obliging me.
Some things, i realised, ive been asking for since forever, but never got.
I only realised today that they still owe me simple things like a few pieces of cables... maybe they need to ask the CEO's approval for that but since it's only cables, the request is put on the lowest priority?

花嫁
The amazing bridal party I went for. Really glad to be part of this happy occasion.
One last hug (well, not really the last)
After the event, I had that kind of feeling that says "Well, I've finally married another good pal off to a man I could trust!". She was the girl I stuck on to, who brought me into the group of great people at Techno Centre. She showed me that you dont have to be Japanese in Japan, and heck those people who try so hard to behave but are actually 変. And he, the amazing Canadian who speaks Japanese, Chinese and English, is strong, smart (like, how many people hold a PhD in Philosophy?!) and kind, all rolled into one. One more thing, he's one of the few ang mohs I like. =)
Congratulations, my dearest girl!!
*Decided I wont bother posting up pix of the last Japan trip (before this) since it's so long ago and there's so many photos hahaha.... どうしょう。。。T_T

Done!
What I need to do next is to study for the paper, which im not too worried about. Then it's the interview, which I should really seriously prepare for. N from Bunka, who works at the embassy mentioned that the response this year is overwhelming. What's wrong with these people? Economy is better so they should stay on and earn big bucks right? Dont come fight for poor workers like me =(((
Walked from the embassy down to NIE via Nassim Rd just now, and realised there's actually quite a no. of extravagant properties around there, some of which are quite nice while the others are just L-O-U-D. This is what you do what there's too much money at hand.

finally tied up most of the loose ends for the application.
Tomorrow's the day I'll rush to get everythg sent out via Speedpost, so at least I'll be 1 day earlier than the deadline (unlike last year hhahaha).
Thinking if I dont get it, should I continue applying for admission anyway?
Took out a photo i took with the old man at work so that I can put it somewhere on my desk. The next time i feel like hurling insults at him, i hope i'll be able to grab the photo fast enough to shut myself up. So sweet.

Customer Service
Too often nowadays, I have this thought... If I had wanted to serve people, to be seen with an obliging smile and be able to talk to others in a humble you-are-always-right manner, I wouldnt have chosen to do engineering. It would have been sales or customer service, where "Money is King" is the hard cold fact.
But no, I knew there's no way I wanna do something like this. Indeed, that's why I'm in R&D, where everything is efficient and we (attempt to) make logical decisions. Somehow, I feel like the internal customers (our GMCs) are treating me, the R&D guy, as if I'm the person who is supposed to serve them no matter what their crazy insane requests are. And when I insist on something, they start throwing tempers, and sometimes insults. Especially the angmohs, just coz im Asian doesnt mean im inferior to you, at least not in an Asian firm.
Someone reminded me again last Friday, that it's not worth it all. I then reminded myself that it's just coz my stubbornness refusing to admit defeat.
That reminds me, Tony from the previous post is a lousy American who called us Chinese shit. This is one of the reasons why I totally didnt want to talk to him even when we met at the wedding.
