Holiday

I.seriously.need.a.HOLIDAY.

And the plane went shuuuu... up the sky!

Woohooo back in Sunny Island! Been trying to settle down and get used to life here for the 2 weeks I'll be here. Sounds weird that I need to get used to coming back home-home, but I guess I'm so used too life in Japan that I struggle abit with everything here, including the weather, bed, pillow, the shower, clealiness, having so many people (and kids) around me, and being accountable to people about my movements. Ah wells...

While I'm back, im sandwiched between going out to meet friends and doing stuffs (like checking out wedding cakes and printing of invites) and staying home (coz the mom wants me to, and I have some emails that have got to be replied to, in business japanese, which takes up time). Feels like Im living my life in a daze here and following along as time drags me forward. Maybe I'm just waiting for the time i get to board the plane and be back in Japan, in my own world. But I also know  for sure I dread the day when I have to pack up and leave again. Such irony huh!

Anyway, that brings me back to my main point. I need a holiday, where I can put myself in holiday mood, just travel around, see new things and not check emails etc. Maybe I should just do that instead of waiting for things to happen and take away this chance. Looking at the photos of friends travelling just got my travel bugs itching again... Don't tell me bullshit that im in Japan and not working, it's considered a holiday and you are enjoying yourself yada yada. It's not the case, especially since I consider Japan home now. Really need to go somewhere besides shuttling btw Japan & SG... maybe I should propose something =)

15号

Survived the typhoon no. 15 yesterday, with quite alot of episode. Getting a call from one of the sweet aunties reminding me to finish up all my shopping by 6pm and stay put at home after that. The Geek calling back at 2pm to say the company's closed for the day. Lots of dramamama outside the house while the strong winds were roaring like a mad dinosaur outside and the rain beating hard against the window. Staying at home to finish up the documents I was supposed to send out by yesterday (working hours) and realized when I was about to attach the files that the internet was down. Having to figure out how to enable tethering on my phone (glad I finally did!). Finally but not least, a strong but brief quake to end it all.

I must admit I was kinda worried, if the structure will stay put, if the power cables or some signboards might just start flying over, etc. But there was no major issues at our end, and it was quite an experience afterall. There's many people who have been left stranded without transport, evacuated, and some even dead. Seems like typhoon is a more deadly disaster than earthquake, contrary to what we foreigners think.

Driving along a paddy field, with Mt Fuji in sight ♥
Last weekend was spent accompanying the parents for tomb sweeping. It was a pretty good trip, with lotsa *expected* good food & scenery all the way. The mom insisted that we visit 大涌谷 for the sunset view and onsen eggs, and we ended up being stuck in jams after jams for hours, until we finally reached Tokyo *phew*! Didnt help that she was talking all the way in the car and I was feeling pretty sleepy (woke up too early, with no supply of coffee), until the dad decided to save me by taking my seat in the back hee...

Had another meeting with this HR consultant on Tue. I must be getting quite used to such stuffs, that I can't be bothered to prepare what to say. It was a good discussion, this guy was pretty interesting and half the time, we werent talking about serious stuffs but instead, about living in Japan/Singapore, and how he's hoping to go over for work, visiting different countries in the world haha... Was good that he was pretty cute too, couldnt help looking into his eyes (all these, I've shared with the Geek). Best of all, this is one of the biggest recruitment agency in Japan (can tell from the package they give and tools to get you started!) so I don't have to worry about having screwed up the 1st discussion (with a slightly smaller agency) from my gancheong-ness. As I was typing this, a mail came in, with more recommendations from that guy, when I haven't even gone through the about 50 cases he passed me on Tue! Super enthu, I like.

Think the grouchy looking auntie at the first laundry shop isn't around anymore. I'm contemplating going back to this place again coz the new one is still pretty far (though visits are much much more pleasant). Haha... boring days of a housewife...

Another 3 more days before I leave for sunny island! Looking forward to it, seeing my family, friends, and enjoying all the yummy goodies, but there's also this weird feeling bugging me, like I don't know what to expect (like huh?!).

C for Colors!

Too cute and bright to be missed
It is the birthday of Albert von Szent-Györgyi de Nagyrápolt, apparently the guy who discovered Vitamin C (see Wiki). I kinda like things with vitamin C in it coz usually these stuffs would be sweet in their own natural ways.

It's a good thing to take a break from everything work related, my mind is cleared from all the mess that has been created. In fact, so clean that I can't recall some of the stuffs. *panicks*

Short one

Oh no he's here to haunt me!!! Should I even bother or not? o_O

Met up with Vian yesterday! Hee was so happy meeting up with her! Good to hear about her good news and looking forward to all of it.. but I was kinda disappointed to know that all the girls have been lazy and not meeting up with each others =| Well I guess as we grow older, we tend to move on and change the priorities in our lives (bf, babies, hubby, new hobbies, etc)... but the magical thing is that no matter how long it has been, all it takes is the start of a conversation to get us talking like the good old days yeah?

So excited to be going home SOON!! But that also means I'd better start thinking of what to tell the designer at the bouquet or he might just start pounding me into some meat pie T_T Some people are just so excited about their wedding ceremony, and I happen to be not one of them...

Cut a deal with the Geek to get myself working... supposedly win-win situation but at this rate I'm going, it seems I'll be the big loser, and all because myself.....

Oh yes, I havent forgotten that I need to blog about the birthday..

Prrrrrecious

My highest score so far.
The Geek challenged me to beat his score (of only slightly over 500,000) and said we'll go for a rich treat if I did it.

Didnt take me very long huh =P
One thing though, we both used the Phoenix Gem (or whatever you call it).

Slow

Somethings, I think of what I have to do, and figure out it's either now or never. Better to work on it now rather than regretting not having tried at all. All I need is some motivation to get me going.

Starbuck's new Apple Crumble Frap tastes pretty disgusting, and I won't recommend it unless you think you have a weird taste bud huh...

The Last Train

I'll been trying to squeeze so many things into 1 entry, that I'm not sure whats an appropriate title for it haha... The last train home might be remotely suitable, feeling wise. That said, I never liked taking the last train, nor the 2nd last, for that matter. I'm fine with cramping up in a carriage with ladies but nobody likes the feeling of having ur body sticking close to disgusting smelly drunkards.

The tree that was waiting for me when I walked out of a shopping mall.

Well well, so our baby SG boy has reached Sushi-land, and despite his previous whines, he's managed to reach the new place in one single piece. While I was still praying hard not to hear another comment on why the world is so cruel to him, he asked why I didnt ask him along for the SG dinner thgy. Eh coz it's not my parrrrty and if someone were to jio u, it wont be me. I wasnt really sure if I wanted to turn up, and even at the last minute, I was contemplating just heading back. Anyway, I'm not going to be a babysitter for whatever I hadnt signed myself up for, and for sure, it wont be you. Felt bad about not contacting WL earlier about this though, seems like she missed out the mail from the embassy and it was too late by the time I talked to her about it.

The dinner itself, turned out to be much much more enjoyable than I had imagined. It was like suddenly having a breath of fresh air, listening to Singlish spoken by a mass of people (while watching the NDay video). There was this group of ladies who have spent a good number of years in Japan, and gather together like every 2 weeks. That's like so uber cool, despite the fact that they are of totally different age group as me, and stay mainly in the Yokohama area. I wont mind joining them once in awhile, especially since it was mentioned that one of them make good carrot cake! *wooohoooo* There's this other lady who tagged along with her hubby for work, and is picking up Japanese now. Good thing is that she stays in Tokyo and we could kinda hit off so there's more chances of meeting up.

I found a few characters, who seem weird... one of them (who married a Japanese and stayed in Japan for almost 40 years) told me "Learn Japanese for what? I speak English at home with my kids, my husband. I dont want to learn Japanese and will only use English.". Was kinda shocked hearing that coz, it seems like ur making ur own life less enjoyable? Anyway not for me to judge.

My feelings from the meetups with the HR consultanst were pretty mixed. The guy I met at the first firm was very professional, and he is very experienced in the field that I'm keen to move into, and also introduced me to his colleague who has lots of contacts in my previous field (like an extra topping, bonus kinda thing). Too bad I screwed it up somehow with lack of sleep and anxiety, this being my first discussion. But at least towards the end of the session, I loosened up quite alot and could convey my ideas well enough, that he commented "Actually your Japanese can make it.". Thanks but I still wanted to fall dead right on the spot. He seem keen enough to follow up, despite how badly I performed, and gave some tips on how I could change my resume to suit the kind of field I want to do. Maybe he saw the name NUS (and went "wah!", though I dont know why the big deal), or he saw the potential in me (hahahahaha!). Must work on this and not screw up again or he'll lose all hope in me.

I went home, did nothing but read fashion and stoned. Felt like my brain was about to stop working from all that mess I was making myself. I spoke to a few friends during the night, who gave me advices and it all actually calmed me down. Decided to heck it and forget about preparations, just go and say what you want to say, stress-free.

2nd one (the next day) was much better, in the sense that I wasnt much gancheong anymore and made sure I had enough sleep. This guy is much younger (though a manager) and didnt give me the impression that he was very serious about things. Maybe it's just the age? But he did bring up a few good stuffs which I could ponder about, whether I would go for them. All in all, I'm not that hopeless yet and the market doesn't look THAT bad. Let's go for it!

The Geek and I have been clocking in so many late nights, that we basically consume too much caffeine everyday. How much is too much, you ask? I guess there's no way to measure but your body tells you so. While I was trying to clear the tray for the used capsules yesterday (coz the one I just used didn't really head to the tray), I realized the number of capsules we took the last 3 days had been pretty alarming, and this is not including regular coffee that we make with coffee powder. Where has my resolution to stay further away from caffeine gone? =(

So beautiful but potent
I know I was supposed to blog about the birthday but I seriously think this post is getting too long and I would rather do something else now haha... bleargh... Hopefully I will have the time to do it this weekend, so I can have something to remember of my first bdae celebrations with the Geek! =)
