本番

Starting work tmr, and I'm still barely prepared. That said, I'm not sure what's there to prepare besides an intro speech and finish filling up the pile of forms.

Tried to stay awake after sending the Geek off to work yesterday. Had 2 cups of coffee at home (can see how much of a struggle it was) before heading out to the salon, where I finally found a place & stylist im comfortable with. Met up with W for abit of shopping & dinner.. good to know that she's different from the lady she was back in SG. More independent, and initiative, and knows what she wants. *thumbs up!*

Someone whatsapped me this pic, taken with her phone =P Ur damn cute can?
Happy Birthday to Mark Twain!!

Bye Bye Weekend!

And I say bye to my free days, soon...

Was looking at my (SG) credit card statement, and found that the bank charged an exchange rate as high as 100yen=SGD1.748 for some of the purchases last month. I know that the rate is high now, but didnt expect it to be THIS high, especially when everyone's been waiting for it to fall since it has gone TOO HIGH, TOO MANY TIMES. Hope this will remind me (again!) not so use my SG cards so often!

And am glad I'll be earning yen too! By then, yeah, let the rate go high for awhile so I can continue to enjoy it =P just awhile more.

Talking about which, I'll be reporting for work this week, which is like real soon. Didn't expect 6 months of doing nothing to just pass like that..... Gotta enjoy and make full use of my remaining jobless days =| Not going to be that great when the company just sent over a package of forms to be filled up before reporting for work. I looked at it and wished I could do the marriage registration again instead.

Events

I'm determined, to write something decent sometime this week so that I can
1) Remember what I've done the last few weeks
2) List down what have to be done

Ever since I got back from SG, my days had been filled with interviews and meetings with HR peeps. Hardly had a chance to slow down coz just as you thought it's over, another comes in. I shouldnt be complaining at all, I know....

So from early Nov till mid last week, I was pretty occupied with friends visiting from Singapore. There was a long weekend due to Hari Raya Haji, but that was it? Hmm anyway, we had June & hubby (who got lost in Shinjuku and had us running around to find him), Susan (yes yes YOU) and also Ange... All arrived on the weekend of the 6th and I was rushing to meet June and Ange, then those last min appointments that came up suddenly...

By the end of this, I was quite happy when we finally boarded the shinkansen to Kyoto. It means 3 days away from the rush and reality I left at home haha.... Too bad the weather first 2 days were pretty gloomy and to make it worse, the days were too short for us tourists who start the day late =P It finally got better on the last day, when we had Jocelyn with us at Arashiyama! I must say that was the best part of the trip, nice weather, nice scenery, nice companions!

The clown who caught me off guard :P
Oh and in btw these few weeks, I've finally sealed my own fate and decided on the company to join. Must really say I had been quite lucky to have passed through the interviews and test *still doubtful* for the company, which (according to my own feelings and feedbacks from others) is a much better place than my original 1st choice. Let's hope things will start falling into place so I can settle down soon.

At the back of my mind, I was feeling both excited and kinda anxious about starting work. I know there's quite alot I should be preparing for, but I should sit down and think about. After sending Zhen off, I decided to hang around Laketown to get some stuffs for work and since it's so far from Tokyo station, I could have alot of time to let my mind wander...... Not a very good idea since I ended up fb-ing, reading news and etc on the train. Didnt help at all when by the end of the day, I spent so much, feeling as if my credit card hurt a lil from the swiping, on everything but work clothes. Well done!

The coming Friday was the celebration party the R&D dept had for us. It felt like some lame idea to me at first since the ROM was done quite awhile ago and the wedding dinner won't happen so soon. A party with them somewhere in the middle of it all didn't seem appropriate. At a point in time, I was trying to persuade the Geek to get them to call it off, coz I didnt feel comfortable at all. Was glad I went along eventually, coz it was great seeing and drinking with the crazy guys again. When the R&D boss gave a speech about how he first met me, and then worrying about me coming to Japan (with all the single men in R&D!), me taking the position after the lousy boss left, and eventually leaving the company, I was really touched that he actually remembered all those details (some of which I only have faint memories about). It really goes to show how small actions and words, both good and bad, actually meant to others. Eh, I should also note down that it was also the first time in my life that I entered a KTV bar with hostesses, which surprisingly didnt seem as sleazy as I had thought. Or maybe only coz there was a female customer (ME!) around too?

With the weather turning cooler (colder?!) by the day, we finally get to see more 紅葉 around. I'm beginning to really like this season more, though I think it can be better if we could have warmer and longer days =(

It was shopping on Sun, and later again, but with W! We finally get to meet up alone, since all the previous times, we had all the others from the ex coy!!

Was browsing through pix and started missing the good old days back in SG.... Arggghhh i miss the people there!!

But it seems too early to start now... and definitely not the right time now! =(

There's so much I need to update up here and I should do it like really soon, before I get engulfed by everything else. Yes, still remb that there is the bdae post which is disgustingly overdue.

The Starbucks charm at the top left hand corner is so cute that I've gotta take a screenshot of it in case nobody notices it... and it switches btw diff designs everytime the page is loaded =) Xmas is coming! Woohooo how I love this time of the year!

Numb

I'm, strangely, devoid of any anxiousness or any sorts of feeling towards interviews.
Not a good thing.

Not gonna act as if I know him. But I just love Google Doodles.

Some family mails reminded me of why I would prefer to be anywhere but in Singapore.

Brrr

October's over. November's in. The last month had been, a fulfilling but busy one.

Temperature here's diving like nobody's biz, and winter will be here soon before we realize. Bleargh, ok la i was kidding. Let's enjoy autumn a little bit more before looking forward to a full month of Xmas chants chorus ok?

A few pix to sum up what I've been up to last week.
 During that week, I
  • Had a reunion of sort with the ex-colleagues, who all happen to be in Japan now
  • Got a proper suit
  • Saw a suit for preggy women (amazing!)
  • Mugged for a test
  • Went through 3 interviews
  • Realized I studied for the wrong kind of test (thanks hor!)
  • Had many nabe dinners
  • Visited Lumine and Hankye at Yurakucho
  • Finally made it to Garb
  • Saw leaves turn red
  • Flung my sanity out of the window at some point in time
It was always good being able to meet up with Singaporeans, or even those whom I used to work with back in SG. But from then on, things just started to go downhill.

First interview (with pretty domestic international wannabe firm B) didn't go very well, or so I felt. The interviewer looked as though he spent the last of his energy at the battlefield earlier that day. Is it me or are all of them like this? I was pretty tired (from the busy weekend spilling over Monday) and wasn't able to express myself as well as I could. He was another young guy (reminded me of that previous experience!), who turned out to be much more patient but I just thought he was trying to be nice and professional about it.

Surprisingly, I got the notice that I passed the interview, and they need me to go in for a 2nd one............ =|

My 2nd first interview with major player A was good. In fact, I felt it was even better than at D and there was good chemistry btw me and the 2 interviewers. But alas, yours truly always has to screw things up at the last minute. They asked if I prefer to do S-related (their field) or B-related, I decided to go with my heart and said "B-related.". That's how I am going to end up with a 3rd first interview with them. Like Gong said, "At least they are throwing you around, not throwing you out.", maybe I should be thankful that they are too polite to reject me on behalf of another team haha....

My last (and most important) interview went blah. When the HR guy told me the test is SPI (instead of TG-Web), I went weak on my knees haha... Nonetheless, I attempted it and from the look on their faces when I was done, things didn't look good. Interview was so-so, and the test kinda made me less confident about the whole thing.

Keeping fingers crossed about it. Like what they say, only when you are about to lose/lost something then you'll realize you want it. Arggghhh please don't let it happen to me. Gotta work hard on the other 2, which I thought I could just not try so hard.....
